How Do I Get My Website Listed on Google?

Google doesn't automatically know your website exists the moment it goes live — you need to tell it. The good news is, it's not complicated.

Step 1 – Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a free tool from Google that lets you monitor how your site performs in search. One of the first things to do is submit your sitemap — a file that lists all the pages on your website — so Google knows what to index.

CyberWebPAGE sets up and submits your sitemap as part of your website launch.

Step 2 – Set up your Google Business Profile

If you're a local business, claiming your Google Business Profile is essential. It helps you appear in local search results and Google Maps (see our article on Google My Business for more details).

Step 3 – Be patient

After submitting your sitemap, it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for your pages to start appearing in Google search results. New websites take a little longer to gain Google's trust than established ones.

Step 4 – Build quality content and links

The more useful and relevant your website content is, and the more other reputable websites link to yours, the faster Google will recognise your site as worth showing to people.
